Check These Out!

Nosing about the internet recently yielded some interesting
telnet sites that you might want to check out.

Maple Square Canada's Internet Directory

www.maplesquare.com

Based on Saltspring Island, this site offers a list of topics
with a Canadian slant. There are sub sites for arts and
entertainment, business and money, computers and internet,
culture and society, news and references, science, travel,
and sports and recreation.

www.nationalgeographic.com

Offers a service called the "Map Machine Atlas", which allows
you to view selected maps of various geographical areas. The
Areas are indexed alphabetically and can be accessed with a
single mouse click. The quality of the maps offered isn't bad
provided you're not after too much detail.

www-nais.com.emr.ca

At this site, Natural Resources Canada offers you a means of
compiling your own maps. By superimposing layers of information
on a blank map of Canada, you can choose from a long list of
geographic information including location of Crown land, Boreal
forest area, Federal Reserved land, private land, maps of
provinces, wheat farming, dairy farming, cattle farming, and
much more. It's really quite a comprehensive service for those
who want to develop their own personalized maps.

                                              Canada_pol94.jpg

A very detailed yet readable map of Canada that prints out not
so neatly on four 8-1/2 x 11 inch sheets. You won't see the
entire country on screen at once, but the scale is such that
you can easily see all the regions of Canada along with their
major cities. The map is uncluttered and very neat, but also
very large.

www.canadapost.ca/CPC2/addrm/pclookup/pclookup.html

At this address you can find postal codes for specific street
addresses. You can also find address ranges for a given postal
code and access an address manager which provides information
for newsletter addressing.

www.canadapost.ca/CPC2/menu_01.html

The homepage for Canada Post Corp. which provides information
on everythingfrom who is on the latest stamp to how to determine
if your parcel has been delivered. Canada Post provides detailed
descriptions of all their services, a FAQ page, and a means of
ordering Canada Post products online.

Canada for Visitors

This site lists a variety of locations. I chose Victoria, just
to see what it was like. The page on Victoria lists a wealth of
information for anyone wanting to visit there. There is detail
on accommodations, sights of interest, transportation schedules,
and more. Great stuff for the tourist.
